A-Type Keg Coupler All-SS with 8mm Duotight Push-Fit is a commercial-style keg connector designed for fast, reliable attachment to compatible A-Type keg valves. Commonly called a slide-on coupler or German slider, it is used across many draught beer systems and provides both gas input and beverage output through one compact fitting.

The all-stainless-steel construction makes it a durable choice for home kegerators, commercial-style home bars, events and portable draught setups. The supplied 8mm Duotight push-in fittings simplify the connection of compatible gas and beverage line without the need for traditional hose barbs and clamps.

A-Type Slide-On Coupler

A-Type couplers connect by sliding onto the matching keg valve and locking into place.

This style is commonly associated with selected kegs from:

  • Tooheys
  • Coopers
  • XXXX
  • Many Australian craft breweries
  • Other breweries using A-Type keg valves

Keg coupler compatibility depends on the valve fitted to the keg, not simply the brewery name. Always confirm the keg valve type before purchase.

Stainless Steel Construction

The A-Type Keg Coupler All-SS with 8mm Duotight Push-Fit is made with stainless steel beverage-contact components for strength, corrosion resistance and straightforward cleaning.

Stainless steel offers several advantages:

  • Durable construction
  • Low flavour absorption
  • Easy sanitation
  • Strong threaded connections
  • Suitability for regular draught use
  • Professional appearance
  • Resistance to normal beverage acidity

Clean and dry the coupler after use, especially when dispensing sweet, acidic or strongly flavoured beverages.

8mm Duotight Push-In Fittings

The coupler includes 8mm Duotight push-fit connections for quick line installation.

Push-in fittings can help provide:

  • Faster setup
  • Neater line routing
  • Easy tubing removal
  • Reduced need for hose clamps
  • Secure connection when installed correctly
  • Compatibility with selected EVABarrier tubing

For best results, cut the tubing squarely and push it fully into the fitting.

Recommended EVABarrier Tubing

Recommended tubing options include:

  • EVABarrier 4mm internal diameter x 8mm outside diameter
  • EVABarrier 5mm internal diameter x 8mm outside diameter

Both options share an 8mm outside diameter for compatibility with the supplied Duotight fittings.

The internal diameter selected will affect line resistance and beverage flow.

A 4mm internal diameter line generally provides greater resistance per metre, while a 5mm internal diameter line provides less resistance and may require additional length for balanced dispensing.

Gas and Beverage Connections

A commercial keg coupler normally includes two separate pathways:

  • Gas inlet
  • Beverage outlet

The gas inlet supplies regulated CO₂ or a compatible draught gas into the keg.

The beverage outlet allows beer or another compatible beverage to travel from the keg to the dispensing tap.

Make sure the gas and liquid lines are connected to the correct ports.

Suitable for Commercial Kegs

This coupler is designed for compatible commercial A-Type kegs.

It may be useful when:

  • Serving commercial beer through a home kegerator
  • Connecting brewery kegs at an event
  • Building a home bar system
  • Replacing a worn coupler
  • Converting from hose-barb fittings to push-fit tubing
  • Running a portable draught setup

Not every Australian commercial keg uses the same coupler type.

Confirm Coupler Compatibility

Before purchase, confirm:

  • The keg uses an A-Type valve
  • The slide-on connection matches the keg
  • The gas supply is suitable
  • Tubing is 8mm outside diameter
  • The dispensing system is pressure rated
  • The beverage line length is appropriate
  • The gas regulator suits the required serving pressure

Other common commercial coupler types include D-Type, S-Type and G-Type, which are not interchangeable.

General Installation Guide

A typical installation process includes:

  1. Confirm that the keg uses an A-Type valve.
  2. Clean and sanitise the coupler.
  3. Cut the EVABarrier tubing squarely.
  4. Push the gas line fully into the gas-side fitting.
  5. Push the beverage line fully into the liquid-side fitting.
  6. Connect the gas line to a compatible regulator.
  7. Connect the beverage line to the tap or font.
  8. Slide the coupler onto the keg valve.
  9. Lock or engage the coupler according to its design.
  10. Open the gas supply slowly.
  11. Check every connection for leaks.
  12. Test the pour and adjust the draught system if required.

Always follow the coupler and keg supplier’s operating instructions.

Installing Duotight Tubing Correctly

For a reliable push-fit connection:

  1. Use a sharp tube cutter.
  2. Cut the tubing at a clean 90-degree angle.
  3. Check that the tube end is round and undamaged.
  4. Push the tubing firmly into the fitting.
  5. Continue until it passes both internal seals.
  6. Pull back gently to confirm it is locked.
  7. Pressure-test before regular use.

A rough or angled cut can cause gas or beverage leaks.

Removing Tubing

To remove compatible tubing:

  1. Turn off the gas supply.
  2. Release pressure from the system.
  3. Push the fitting collar inward.
  4. Hold the collar down.
  5. Pull the tubing out carefully.
  6. Inspect the tube end before reconnecting.

Never remove tubing while the system remains pressurised.

Draught System Balancing

Correct line balance is essential for a controlled pour.

Factors include:

  • Beverage temperature
  • Keg pressure
  • Carbonation level
  • Tubing internal diameter
  • Line length
  • Tap height
  • Coupler flow
  • Beverage style

If the beer pours too quickly or produces excessive foam, the system may require more line resistance rather than lower gas pressure.

Cleaning the Coupler

Clean the coupler before first use and regularly during service.

A typical process includes:

  • Disconnect the keg
  • Release all system pressure
  • Flush the beverage pathway
  • Use suitable beer line cleaner
  • Follow the correct contact time
  • Rinse thoroughly where required
  • Sanitise before reconnecting
  • Inspect seals and moving parts
  • Allow the coupler to drain

Do not leave beer residue inside the coupler between uses.

Cleaning Frequency

Clean the coupler:

  • Between keg changes
  • Between different beverage styles
  • After serving sweet drinks
  • Before extended storage
  • Whenever the line is cleaned
  • If flavour or aroma changes
  • If flow becomes restricted

Regular cleaning helps reduce residue, flavour carryover and microbial growth.

Leak Testing

Check for leaks after installation or reconnection.

Inspect:

  • Gas-side Duotight fitting
  • Beverage-side Duotight fitting
  • Tubing insertion points
  • Coupler-to-keg connection
  • Regulator connection
  • Gas line
  • Beverage line

Use a suitable leak-detection solution on gas connections.

Never test for leaks with a flame.

Safe Keg Connection

Before connecting:

  • Keep the coupler disengaged
  • Confirm the gas supply is off
  • Check the keg valve for damage
  • Inspect the coupler seal
  • Keep the connection area clean
  • Secure the keg upright

Open the gas supply slowly after the coupler is correctly attached.

Suitable Applications

The A-Type Keg Coupler All-SS with 8mm Duotight Push-Fit is ideal for:

  • Home kegerators
  • Commercial beer kegs
  • Home bars
  • Event draught systems
  • Portable beer dispensers
  • Party setups
  • Brewery tasting systems
  • Replacement coupler installations

Its push-fit design makes it especially useful for systems already using 8mm outside-diameter EVABarrier tubing.

Important Notes

  • Confirm that the keg uses an A-Type valve before purchase.
  • Brewery compatibility can vary between keg products.
  • Recommended tubing is EVABarrier 4mm x 8mm or 5mm x 8mm.
  • Gas regulator, cylinder and tubing are sold separately unless stated.
  • Beer tap, font and beverage line are not included unless stated.
  • Use regulated gas only.
  • Clean and sanitise before first use.
  • Release all pressure before removing tubing or the coupler.
  • Check all connections for leaks.
  • Do not force the coupler onto an incompatible keg valve.

A-Type Keg Coupler All-SS with 8mm Duotight Push-Fit provides a durable and convenient connection for compatible Australian commercial kegs. Its stainless steel construction and push-in fittings make it a practical addition to kegerators, home bars and portable draught systems.
