Dual Pressure MK4 Regulator – Type 30 is designed for kegging systems that need two independently controlled CO₂ pressures from one compatible gas cylinder. It is ideal for homebrewers serving different beverage styles, operating a multi-tap kegerator or carbonating one keg while dispensing from another.
Instead of joining two separate regulators with additional fittings, this integrated unit connects directly to a compatible Australian Type 30 CO₂ cylinder. Each regulator section can then be adjusted separately to provide two pressure zones.
This makes it easier to serve beverages with different carbonation requirements while keeping the gas setup neat and organised.
Run Two Different CO₂ Pressures
Not every kegged beverage should be served at the same pressure.
A dual-pressure regulator may be useful when dispensing combinations such as:
- Ale and lager
- Beer and cider
- Beer and sparkling water
- Lightly carbonated beer and highly carbonated drinks
- Serving and force-carbonating kegs
- Two beverages with different line configurations
Each regulator output can be adjusted independently, allowing one cylinder to supply two separate pressures.
Integrated Dual-Regulator Design
The Dual Pressure MK4 Regulator – Type 30 provides a complete dual-pressure arrangement without requiring users to remove a high-pressure gauge, purchase a joining fitting or assemble two separate regulators.
This integrated design may offer:
- Easier installation
- Fewer connection points
- Cleaner gas-line organisation
- Independent pressure control
- Reduced need for additional adaptors
- A compact setup for kegerators and home bars
Fewer high-pressure joins can also make the system easier to inspect and leak-test.
Australian Type 30 Connection
The regulator is designed to connect to compatible Australian Type 30 CO₂ cylinders.
Before installation, confirm:
- The cylinder uses a Type 30 valve
- The cylinder is suitable for beverage-grade CO₂
- The regulator connection and seal are undamaged
- The cylinder remains within its required test date
- The complete system is compatible with the intended pressure
The CO₂ cylinder shown in product images is not included.
Independent Pressure Adjustment
Each regulator section has its own adjustment control.
This allows users to set one outlet at a lower pressure and the other at a higher pressure.
For example, one outlet may supply a beer keg at serving pressure while the second supplies a different keg for carbonation. Actual pressure settings depend on beverage temperature, carbonation level, tubing size and the pressure ratings of connected equipment.
Always increase pressure gradually and monitor the relevant gauge.
Colour-Coded Pressure Relief Valves
The MK4 design includes colour-coded pressure relief valves to make the fitted pressure-relief components easier to identify.
A pressure relief valve provides an important safety function if downstream pressure exceeds its intended level.
Never:
- Block the pressure relief valve
- Modify its internal components
- Replace it with an incompatible valve
- Operate the regulator above its stated limits
If a relief valve activates repeatedly, close the cylinder and inspect the system before continuing.
Improved MK4 Body Design
The MK4 model features an updated body designed for improved strength, reliability and everyday operation.
Its practical design suits:
- Home kegerators
- Keezer systems
- Multi-tap home bars
- Portable draught systems
- Beer and sparkling water setups
- Small commercial-style serving systems
Keep the regulator dry and protected from beverage spills, cleaning chemicals and physical impact.
Convenient Mounting Option
The regulator includes provision for mounting as part of an organised gas system.
Mounting may help:
- Protect the regulator body
- Keep gauges visible
- Reduce strain on gas lines
- Improve access to adjustment controls
- Organise a gas board
- Keep equipment away from spills
Use suitable hardware and make sure the mounted regulator does not place strain on the cylinder connection.
Optional Gauge Guards
Compatible gauge guards are available separately.
A gauge guard can help protect the pressure gauges from accidental knocks during:
- Cylinder changes
- Transport
- Installation
- Storage
- Mobile event use
- Regular movement around a brewing area
The regulator should still be handled carefully, even when a gauge guard is installed.
Connecting Gas Lines
Each regulator output requires compatible pressure-rated gas tubing and fittings.
A typical setup may also require:
- Gas disconnects
- Hose barbs or push-in fittings
- One-way check valves
- Suitable gas tubing
- Gas manifolds
- Keg couplers
- Pressure-rated kegs
The exact fittings included should be confirmed from the selected product configuration.
Use One-Way Check Valves
One-way check valves are strongly recommended on each gas outlet.
They help reduce the risk of beverage or pressure travelling backwards towards the regulator.
Backflow may occur when:
- A keg is overfilled
- Keg pressure is higher than regulator pressure
- A vessel is tipped
- Liquid enters the gas dip tube
- The gas cylinder is turned off while kegs remain pressurised
Liquid entering a regulator may contaminate or damage the internal components.
General Installation Guide
A typical installation process includes:
- Secure the CO₂ cylinder upright.
- Close the cylinder valve.
- Turn both regulator adjustment controls fully down.
- Inspect the Type 30 connection and seal.
- Connect the regulator to the cylinder.
- Attach compatible gas tubing to each outlet.
- Install one-way check valves where required.
- Close downstream outlet valves.
- Open the cylinder valve slowly.
- Leak-test the cylinder connection.
- Set the first outlet pressure.
- Set the second outlet pressure.
- Check the complete system for leaks.
Follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions where supplied.
Setting the Pressures
Adjust each output separately.
To increase pressure:
- Open the gas supply.
- Turn the relevant adjustment control gradually.
- Monitor the matching low-pressure gauge.
- Stop when the desired setting is reached.
To reduce pressure, turn the adjustment control down and release trapped downstream pressure before checking the gauge again.
Pressure already stored inside a keg or gas line will not disappear simply because the regulator setting has been reduced.
Draught System Balancing
Regulator pressure is only one part of a balanced draught system.
Pouring performance also depends on:
- Beverage temperature
- Carbonation level
- Beverage line length
- Internal tubing diameter
- Tap height
- Faucet design
- Beverage style
- Keg pressure
Do not lower serving pressure excessively to correct foam without checking line balance and temperature.
Gas Manifold Use
Each pressure output can potentially supply a compatible gas manifold.
For example:
- Pressure zone one can supply several beer kegs
- Pressure zone two can supply cider or sparkling water
- One zone can be used for serving
- The other can be used for carbonation
Kegs connected to the same manifold will generally receive the same pressure unless additional secondary regulation is installed.
Leak Testing
Gas leaks can empty a CO₂ cylinder quickly.
Leak-test after:
- Initial installation
- Cylinder changes
- Gas-line replacement
- Regulator movement
- Adding a manifold
- Reconnecting kegs
- Servicing fittings
Apply a suitable leak-detection solution around:
- Type 30 cylinder connection
- Regulator body
- Gauge threads
- Pressure relief valves
- Outlet fittings
- Gas tubing
- Check valves
- Manifold connections
Never use a flame to check for leaks.
CO₂ Cylinder Safety
Always:
- Keep the cylinder upright
- Secure it against falling
- Store it away from heat
- Protect the cylinder valve
- Use it in a ventilated location
- Open the valve slowly
- Close the valve before maintenance
- Transport the cylinder securely
Never lift or carry a cylinder by the regulator.
Carbon dioxide can displace oxygen in enclosed areas, so adequate ventilation is essential.
Five-Year Warranty
The Dual Pressure MK4 Regulator – Type 30 is supplied with a five-year warranty.
Warranty coverage is subject to the manufacturer’s terms, correct installation and appropriate use.
Keep proof of purchase and avoid unauthorised modifications that may affect warranty coverage.
