MKX Regulator for CO₂ is a heavy-duty gas regulator designed for reliable flow, accurate pressure adjustment and improved protection in homebrew and draught beverage systems. Its large brass body, dual gauges and high-pressure operating capability make it suitable for standard keg dispensing as well as selected higher-pressure processes.
The regulator operates at pressures up to 65PSI and includes a green 70PSI pressure relief valve. It also features enhanced protection around both the high- and low-pressure gauges to help reduce accidental damage during transport, installation and regular use.
A Type 30 nut and stem is included for connection to compatible CO₂ and CO₂/nitrogen mixed gas cylinders.
Accurate Dual-Gauge Pressure Control
The regulator includes two gauges.
These normally display:
- Cylinder or inlet pressure
- Regulated outlet pressure
The low-pressure gauge helps the operator set the pressure supplied to the keg or gas system. Meanwhile, the high-pressure gauge displays the pressure entering the regulator from the cylinder.
Cylinder pressure does not always provide an accurate indication of the remaining liquid CO₂. Weighing the cylinder is generally a more reliable way to estimate the amount of gas left.

Green 70PSI Pressure Relief Valve
The regulator includes a green pressure relief valve rated at 70PSI.
The relief valve provides an important protective function if outlet pressure rises above the intended operating range.
Never:
- Block the pressure relief valve
- Modify the valve
- Replace it with an incompatible part
- Operate the regulator above its stated limit
If the valve activates repeatedly, close the cylinder and inspect the system before continuing use.
Fully Encapsulated Seat Technology
Keg King’s fully encapsulated seat design helps isolate the regulator seat from contamination.
The seat uses UHMWPE material chosen for chemical stability and dependable sealing. This design avoids reliance on plumber’s tape within the seat assembly and helps maintain consistent regulator operation.

Gas Manifold Compatibility
The regulator can supply a compatible gas manifold for running several kegs from one cylinder.
A manifold may divide the outlet into:

- Six or more gas lines
Standard manifolds normally deliver the same pressure to each outlet unless secondary regulators are installed.
Some manifold check valves may create a small pressure drop, so the regulator setting may need to be adjusted accordingly.
Always Use a One-Way Check Valve
A one-way check valve should always be installed to help protect the regulator from liquid travelling backwards through the gas line.
Liquid backflow may occur when:
- A keg is overfilled
- Keg pressure exceeds the regulator output
- The cylinder is turned off while kegs remain pressurised
- A keg is moved or tipped
- Beverage enters the gas dip tube
- Gas connections are removed incorrectly
Liquid entering a regulator can damage internal components and create contamination.
Regulator Installation
A general installation process includes:
- Confirm that the cylinder valve and Type 30 stem are compatible.
- Make sure the cylinder valve is closed.
- Back the adjustment knob out to remove outlet pressure.
- Inspect the cylinder connection and seal.
- Connect the regulator securely.
- Attach the gas line or outlet fitting.
- Install a one-way check valve.
- Open the cylinder valve slowly.
- Turn the adjustment knob to set the required pressure.
- Check all connections for leaks.
Follow the cylinder and regulator manufacturer’s instructions.
Setting the Outlet Pressure
To increase pressure, turn the adjustment knob gradually in the appropriate direction.
To reduce pressure:
- Close or isolate the gas supply where required.
- Turn the adjustment knob down.
- Release excess downstream pressure.
- Recheck the gauge.
- Fine-tune the setting.
Simply turning the knob down may not immediately lower pressure already trapped in the gas line or keg.
Leak Testing
Always leak-test after:

Use a suitable leak-detection solution around:
- Cylinder connection
