60L Ampi Style Fermenter is a large food-grade plastic fermentation vessel designed for homebrewers making bigger batches of beer, cider, wine, mead and other fermented beverages. Its generous capacity provides room for increased batch volumes while also allowing valuable headspace for active fermentation.

The vessel features a wide screw-top lid that makes it easier to add ingredients, transfer wort and reach inside for cleaning. Its lightweight plastic construction also makes it more manageable than a glass fermenter of a similar size.

This product is supplied as the fermenter and screw lid only. It does not include a thermometer, airlock or airlock grommet. Other fittings and brewing accessories should be selected separately to suit your preferred fermentation setup.

Suitable for Larger Brewing Batches

This vessel may be used for fermenting:

  • Beer
  • Fresh wort kits
  • Extract beer
  • All grain wort
  • Cider
  • Ginger beer
  • Wine
  • Mead
  • Lemonade
  • Sarsaparilla
  • Sugar washes
  • Spirit washes
  • Experimental fermented beverages

The 60-litre capacity suits brewers producing larger volumes or combining multiple smaller kits into one fermentation vessel.

Always leave enough empty space above the liquid to manage foam, krausen and active yeast movement.

Food-Grade Plastic Construction

The fermenter is made from durable food-grade plastic suitable for beverage fermentation.

Plastic construction offers several practical advantages:

  • Lightweight compared with glass
  • Easier to move when empty
  • Reduced risk of breakage
  • Simple storage
  • Wide internal access
  • Suitable for beginner and experienced brewers

Move the vessel carefully when full. A 60-litre batch can become very heavy, so place the fermenter in its final position before filling whenever possible.

Wide Screw-Top Lid

The wide screw lid provides convenient access for preparing, checking and cleaning the fermenter.

This design makes it easier to:

  • Add brewing extract
  • Transfer wort or juice
  • Stir ingredients before fermentation
  • Add fruit, spices or other additions
  • Inspect the vessel
  • Reach internal surfaces during cleaning

Clean the lid threads and sealing surfaces thoroughly before every batch. Residue trapped around the threads may create sanitation problems.

Vessel-Only Configuration

The 60L Ampi Style Fermenter is supplied without the following accessories:

  • Thermometer
  • Airlock
  • Airlock grommet
  • Fermentation monitoring equipment
  • Other fittings unless specifically stated

This vessel-only configuration is ideal for brewers who already have suitable accessories or want to build a customised fermentation setup.

Check all accessories for compatibility before drilling, fitting or modifying the vessel.

General Fermentation Setup

A typical setup may require:

  • Compatible airlock
  • Suitable airlock grommet
  • Stick-on or digital thermometer
  • Fermenter tap, if required
  • Tap seal or washer
  • Blow-off tubing for vigorous fermentation
  • Brewing sanitiser
  • Hydrometer or gravity reader

Complete a water test after fitting any tap or accessory. Check carefully for leaks before filling the vessel with wort, juice or wash.

Avoid overtightening taps, seals or threaded components, as excessive pressure may damage the plastic.

General Brewing Instructions

  1. Clean the fermenter and screw lid thoroughly.
  2. Fit any compatible accessories purchased separately.
  3. Complete a water test and check all fittings for leaks.
  4. Sanitise every surface that will contact the beverage.
  5. Prepare the wort, juice or wash according to the recipe.
  6. Transfer the liquid into the vessel.
  7. Leave suitable headspace for active fermentation.
  8. Confirm the liquid is within the yeast’s recommended temperature range.
  9. Pitch the yeast.
  10. Secure the screw-top lid.
  11. Fit the chosen airlock or blow-off system.
  12. Maintain a stable fermentation temperature.
  13. Monitor fermentation with gravity readings.
  14. Package only after fermentation is fully complete.

Do not rely only on bubbling from an airlock. Confirm that the specific gravity remains stable over consecutive days before bottling or kegging.

Fermentation Headspace

Larger batches can create substantial foam and krausen during fermentation.

Adequate headspace helps reduce the risk of:

  • Foam entering the airlock
  • Blocked airlocks
  • Overflow around the lid
  • Loss of beverage
  • Difficult cleaning
  • Excessive pressure inside the vessel

Strong ales, wheat beers, fruit wines and high-gravity washes may require additional space or a suitable blow-off arrangement.

Temperature Control

Stable temperature supports cleaner fermentation and more predictable yeast performance.

The correct range depends on the selected yeast and beverage style. Always follow the yeast manufacturer’s recommendations.

Temperature-control options may include:

  • Fermentation fridge
  • Digital temperature controller
  • Heating belt
  • Heating pad
  • Insulated jacket
  • Suitable cooling system

Because a thermometer is not included, purchase a compatible stick-on, digital or probe thermometer separately.

Cleaning and Sanitation

Clean the vessel promptly after every batch.

Recommended cleaning steps include:

  • Rinse out loose sediment
  • Soak stubborn residue with suitable brewery cleaner
  • Wash the lid and threads
  • Clean around accessory openings
  • Rinse according to the cleaner instructions
  • Allow the vessel to dry completely
  • Inspect it before storage

Do not use abrasive brushes, metal scourers or rough cleaning pads. Scratches can trap yeast, sugar and other residue, making sanitation more difficult.

Before each batch, sanitise the vessel and every item that will contact the beverage.

Using the Fermenter for Beer

The large capacity is useful for:

  • Double-batch extract brewing
  • Larger fresh wort kit batches
  • All grain wort
  • Pale Ale
  • IPA
  • Lager
  • Stout
  • Porter
  • Wheat beer

Very vigorous ale and wheat beer fermentation may produce a large krausen. Plan the batch volume carefully and use a blow-off tube where appropriate.

Using the Fermenter for Cider, Wine and Mead

When fermenting cider, wine or mead:

  • Use suitable yeast and nutrient
  • Allow room for foam and fruit
  • Monitor the temperature
  • Check gravity throughout fermentation
  • Avoid excessive oxygen after active fermentation
  • Clean the vessel promptly after use

Fruit additions can increase sediment and fermentation activity.

Using the Fermenter for Washes

The vessel can also hold larger sugar or spirit wash batches.

For best results:

  • Follow the yeast and nutrient instructions
  • Avoid filling to the maximum capacity
  • Maintain the recommended temperature
  • Allow fermentation to finish completely
  • Settle or clarify the wash where required
  • Transfer carefully to avoid excess sediment

Use distillation equipment and processes only in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Important Notes

  • This listing includes the fermenter and screw lid only.
  • A thermometer is not included.
  • An airlock is not included.
  • An airlock grommet is not included.
  • Other accessories are sold separately.
  • Confirm fitting compatibility before modifying the vessel.
  • Complete a leak test after installing accessories.
  • Leave adequate fermentation headspace.
  • Do not move the vessel unnecessarily when full.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaning tools.
  • Replace the fermenter if it becomes deeply scratched, cracked or damaged.

60L Ampi Style Fermenter is a versatile option for brewers who need greater fermentation capacity or want to build a customised large-batch brewing setup. Its food-grade plastic construction, wide screw lid and generous internal volume make it suitable for beer, cider, wine, mead, ginger beer and washes.
