Impresence Ginger Beer Flavour Shot 50ml is a highly concentrated flavouring designed to create bold, spicy ginger beer at home. It delivers an intense ginger character supported by balanced tangy sweetness, making it suitable for soft drinks, alcoholic ginger beer, seltzers, cider and experimental beer recipes.

The flavour can be added directly to a fermenter, bottling bucket or keg. Because the shot is highly concentrated, the amount required will depend on the beverage, batch volume and preferred flavour intensity.

Start with a smaller amount, mix thoroughly and taste before adding more. This approach is particularly useful when flavouring an existing beer, cider or fermented seltzer.

Flavour Profile

Expect a powerful flavour profile featuring:

  • Strong ginger spice
  • Warming ginger heat
  • Balanced tangy sweetness
  • Bright and refreshing flavour
  • Long ginger finish
  • Excellent flavour intensity when carbonated

The flavour becomes more noticeable when paired with sugar or a sugar alternative. Artificial sweeteners can also help strengthen the ginger character in dry fermented beverages without restarting fermentation.

Suitable Uses

Use this flavour shot for:

  • Ginger beer soft drink
  • Alcoholic ginger beer
  • Hard seltzer
  • Cider
  • Beer
  • Sparkling water
  • Kegged soft drinks
  • Bottled beverages
  • Canned beverages
  • Experimental mixed drinks

It can be used alone or blended with other flavour shots to create a custom beverage.

Adding Flavour to Fermented Drinks

Keggers, bottlers and canners can add the flavouring directly to a finished or nearly finished beverage.

Suitable additions include:

  • Fermenter
  • Bottling bucket
  • Serving keg
  • Pressure-rated mixing vessel

The exact dosage will vary because a dry seltzer may require a different amount from a sweet cider or malt-based ginger beer.

For best results:

  1. Add a small measured amount.
  2. Mix gently but thoroughly.
  3. Taste the beverage.
  4. Add more flavour if required.
  5. Record the final dosage for future batches.

Avoid excessive splashing after fermentation because oxygen exposure can affect flavour and shelf life.

Sweetness and Flavour Intensity

Impresence Ginger Beer Flavour Shot 50ml becomes more expressive when used with sugar or a suitable sweetener.

A very dry fermented drink may taste sharp or less complete without added sweetness. White sugar can be used in non-fermented kegged soft drinks, while non-fermentable artificial sweeteners may be more suitable for dry alcoholic beverages.

When using fermentable sugar in a finished alcoholic beverage, take care to prevent unintended fermentation. Use an appropriate stabilisation method where required and always follow the directions supplied with products such as Impressence FermStop.

Ginger Beer Soft Drink Recipe – 19L Keg

This recipe produces approximately 19 litres of sweet, spicy and fully carbonated ginger beer soft drink.

Ingredients

  • 1.43kg white sugar
  • 4 litres warm or hot water
  • 4 x Impressence Ginger Beer Flavour Shot sachets
  • 2 x Impressence FermStop sachets
  • Water to make 19 litres

Instructions

  1. Dissolve 1.43kg of white sugar in 4 litres of warm or hot water.
  2. Carefully transfer the sugar solution into a clean and sanitised 19L ball lock keg.
  3. Add four ginger beer flavour shot sachets.
  4. Top the keg up to a final volume of 19 litres with water.
  5. Only after topping up with water, add two Impressence FermStop sachets.
  6. Seal the keg and mix the contents thoroughly.
  7. Chill and carbonate to approximately 3.5 volumes of carbon dioxide.
  8. A suggested carbonation setting is approximately 20psi at 2°C.
  9. Allow the keg to condition before serving.

The order of the FermStop addition is important. Do not add the FermStop before the keg has been topped up to its final volume.

Ginger Beer Soft Drink Recipe – 9.5L Keg

This smaller recipe produces approximately 9.5 litres.

Ingredients

  • 715g white sugar
  • 2 litres warm or hot water
  • 2 x Impressence Ginger Beer Flavour Shot sachets
  • 1 x Impressence FermStop sachet
  • Water to make 9.5 litres

Instructions

  1. Dissolve 715g of white sugar in 2 litres of warm or hot water.
  2. Transfer the sugar solution into a clean and sanitised 9.5L ball lock keg.
  3. Add two ginger beer flavour shot sachets.
  4. Top the keg up to a final volume of 9.5 litres with water.
  5. Only after topping up with water, add one Impressence FermStop sachet.
  6. Seal the keg and mix the contents thoroughly.
  7. Chill and carbonate to approximately 3.5 volumes of carbon dioxide.
  8. A suggested carbonation setting is approximately 20psi at 2°C.
  9. Condition the keg before serving.

For a less sweet result, reduce the white sugar addition. However, lowering the sugar may also reduce the perceived ginger intensity.

Carbonation and Conditioning

The ginger beer should be fully carbonated before serving. Higher carbonation helps lift the ginger aroma and creates a more refreshing finish.

For best results:

  • Chill the keg thoroughly before carbonation
  • Use a pressure-rated keg and suitable fittings
  • Check all connections for leaks
  • Carbonate to suit your serving system
  • Allow approximately one to two weeks for the flavour to settle

The drink can be consumed sooner, but conditioning gives the sweetness, ginger spice and tangy character more time to integrate.

Bottling and Canning

This flavour shot may also be used in bottled or canned beverages. However, carbonation and fermentation must be managed carefully.

When using fermentable priming sugar:

  • Confirm primary fermentation is complete
  • Measure the priming sugar accurately
  • Use pressure-rated bottles or cans
  • Do not combine uncontrolled fermentable sugar with stabilising products
  • Follow the directions for all preservatives or fermentation-control products

Over-carbonation can create dangerous package pressure. When unsure, use a controlled kegging system rather than naturally carbonating an untested recipe.

Important FermStop Note

FermStop must be used according to the instructions supplied with the product.

For the recipes above, always top the keg up with water before adding the FermStop. Adding it to a concentrated sugar solution may prevent it from dispersing correctly.

FermStop is used to help control fermentation in sweet, ready-to-keg soft drink recipes. It should not replace correct cleaning, sanitation, refrigeration or safe pressure management.

Cleaning and Sanitation

Clean and sanitise the keg, lid, dip tubes, disconnects, transfer lines and mixing equipment before use.

Because sweet beverages can support unwanted microbial growth, thorough sanitation is essential. Refrigerate the finished drink and keep the serving system clean.

Rinse beverage lines after use because sugary ginger beer can leave sticky residue behind.

Storage

Store unopened sachets in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.

After opening, use the flavouring promptly. Check the packaging for the best-before date and any additional storage directions.

Impresence Ginger Beer Flavour Shot 50ml is an excellent option for making bold ginger beer with adjustable sweetness and flavour intensity. Use it in a full-size keg, half-size keg or an existing fermented beverage to create a refreshing drink with a powerful ginger kick.
