The Tijuana Mexican Lager Fresh Wort Kit – Keg King brings a crisp, easy-drinking lager style to your home brewery without the time and equipment required for a full all grain brew day. Designed for relaxed afternoons, barbecues, beach days and warm-weather gatherings, this fresh wort kit produces a light, balanced beer with a clean flavour and dry finish.
Each cube contains approximately 16.5 litres of professionally prepared wort. Add around 3 litres of clean water to reach the intended brewing strength, then pitch your selected yeast and maintain the recommended fermentation temperature. With no mashing, sparging or boiling required, it is a convenient choice for both new brewers and experienced homebrewers who want a reliable result with minimal effort.
The Tijuana Mexican Lager Fresh Wort Kit – Keg King pours a bright golden colour and offers a smooth, refreshing flavour profile. Ale Malt provides a clean grain foundation, while Carapils supports body and head retention. Flaked corn helps create the lighter body and dry finish commonly associated with Mexican-style lagers.
Flavour and Aroma Profile
This lager is crisp, clean and deliberately uncomplicated. It has a mild malt flavour, very low perceived bitterness and a dry finish that makes it particularly refreshing when served cold.
Motueka and Saaz hops provide approximately 20 IBUs. These hops contribute light citrus, floral and subtle spicy notes without dominating the beer. The result remains balanced, smooth and highly approachable.
Serve it ice cold on its own or add a fresh wedge of lime or lemon for a bright citrus lift.

Recommended Yeast Options
Suitable yeast choices include:
- Fermentis SafLager W-34/70
- LalBrew NovaLager
SafLager W-34/70 is a dependable option for producing a traditional, clean lager character. It works particularly well when fermented under stable temperature control and given enough conditioning time.
NovaLager is another excellent choice for brewers looking for a clean, crisp result. Its broad fermentation range may also make temperature management easier in some homebrew setups.
Always follow the pitching and fermentation instructions printed on the selected yeast packet.
Basic Brewing Instructions
- Clean and sanitise your fermenter, lid, airlock and all equipment that will contact the wort.
- Pour the complete contents of the fresh wort cube into the sanitised fermenter.
- Add approximately 3 litres of clean water.
- Mix thoroughly and check that the wort is within the correct pitching temperature range.
- Add your chosen yeast and seal the fermenter.
- Maintain a stable temperature within the yeast manufacturer’s recommended range.
- Allow fermentation to continue until the specific gravity remains stable over consecutive days.
- Bottle or keg the finished beer using sanitised equipment.
- Carbonate and condition before serving well chilled.
Dry hopping is not recommended for this recipe. Keeping the beer simple allows its clean grain character, restrained hop profile and refreshing finish to remain the focus.
For the cleanest flavour, ferment toward the cooler end of the selected yeast’s recommended range where practical. Additional cold conditioning can also improve clarity and create a smoother, more refined lager character.
The Tijuana Mexican Lager Fresh Wort Kit – Keg King is a dependable crowd pleaser for any time of year. It delivers fresh all grain flavour, balanced bitterness and an easy-drinking finish that suits parties, summer afternoons or a quiet drink at home.
