British Pale Fresh Wort Kit – Keg King

$59.00

The British Pale Fresh Wort Kit – Keg King produces a balanced, malt-forward pale ale with firm bitterness and traditional English hop character.

Brewed with Pilsner, Ale, Crystal and Caramalt, this 16.5-litre all grain fresh wort kit features earthy, floral and gently spicy notes from Fuggle and Golding hops. Add approximately 3 litres of water for the intended balance, or ferment undiluted for a fuller, higher-gravity beer.

Available on back-order

The British Pale Fresh Wort Kit – Keg King makes it easy to brew a traditional English-style pale ale without spending hours mashing, sparging and boiling. Produced on a Speidel 500L Braumeister Brewery, this professionally prepared all grain wort is brewed true to style and packed ready for fermentation.

This beer combines a rich malt foundation with firm, clean bitterness and classic British hop flavour. Pilsner and Ale malts create the main body of the beer, while Crystal and Caramalt add light caramel sweetness, colour and depth. Fuggle and Golding hops contribute familiar earthy, floral and gently spicy notes that complement the malt rather than overpower it.

Each cube contains approximately 16.5 litres of wort. For the intended balance, add around 3 litres of clean water before fermentation. This reduces the starting gravity from approximately 1.059 to around 1.050. Alternatively, you can ferment the wort undiluted for a richer, fuller-bodied and potentially stronger result.

Flavour and Aroma Profile

Expect a balanced pale ale with toasted grain, biscuit, light caramel and subtle bread-like malt flavours. The hop profile brings earthy, floral and mild herbal character, while the bitterness remains firm enough to create a clean, refreshing finish.

At approximately 35 IBUs, the bitterness is noticeable but well supported by the malt body. The finished beer should remain balanced, traditional and highly drinkable rather than sharply hop-forward.

The British Pale Fresh Wort Kit – Keg King is ideal for drinkers who enjoy classic English ales, bitters and malt-driven pale beers with restrained hop aroma.

The late-hop combination provides traditional British character with earthy, floral and slightly spicy notes. Because the wort already contains a balanced hop profile, additional dry hopping is not required.

Recommended Yeast Options

Suitable yeast strains include:

  • Bluestone London
  • Lallemand Windsor Ale
  • Fermentis SafAle S-04
  • Lallemand Nottingham

Bluestone London and Windsor Ale are excellent choices for a traditional English-style fermentation with gentle fruit character and a fuller malt profile. SafAle S-04 ferments quickly and supports a rounded, malt-forward finish. Nottingham offers strong attenuation and can create a cleaner, slightly drier result.

Always follow the pitching rate and recommended fermentation temperature printed on the yeast packet.

Brewing Instructions

  1. Clean and sanitise the fermenter, lid, tap, airlock and all brewing equipment.
  2. Transfer the full contents of the wort cube into the sanitised fermenter.
  3. Add approximately 3 litres of clean water for the intended balance.
  4. Mix thoroughly and aerate the wort before pitching the yeast.
  5. Check that the wort is within the recommended temperature range for your selected yeast.
  6. Add the yeast and seal the fermenter.
  7. Maintain a steady fermentation temperature.
  8. Allow fermentation to continue until the specific gravity remains stable over consecutive days.
  9. Bottle or keg the finished beer using sanitised equipment.
  10. Carbonate, condition and serve chilled.

Brewer’s Tips

Avoid over-carbonating this style. A moderate carbonation level helps preserve the soft malt body and traditional English ale character.

A short conditioning period can allow the caramel, biscuit and hop flavours to settle into a smoother, more integrated profile. When kegging, minimise oxygen exposure during transfer to protect the fresh malt and hop character.

This pale ale pairs well with:

  • Barbecued meats

The British Pale Fresh Wort Kit – Keg King is a dependable option for homebrewers seeking a traditional, malt-balanced ale with genuine all grain flavour. It offers the character of a carefully brewed English pale ale with very little preparation or cleaning.
